About Kansas Wesleyan University
Kansas Wesleyan University is a private university that has an affiliation with the United Methodist Church. It’s located in Salina, Kansas. The university opened in 1886 after that church decided to bring a new college to the area. They wanted a school with a curriculum that included aspects of religious teachings along with courses in the subjects that students wanted to study. It now has programs in theology and religion that prepare students for working for that church. Students can also earn degrees in nearly 30 subjects. Two-year degree programs help students earn an associate’s degree in either an art or science field. These majors also include some Associate of Applied Science options. The nursing program is accredited by The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). The education programs are accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) The university is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). The regional accreditation allows students to transfer credits to KWU. It also enables students to apply for financial aid.Kansas Wesleyan University Application Requirements
KWU recommends that students use the university’s website to request more information and that they take a campus tour before they apply. Those with more than 24 credit hours are transfer students. However, any student who wants to transfer credits must provide transcripts from their schools. Students must also graduate within the top halves of their high school classes. They need a grade point average of 2.5 or higher. Those with a GED need to score at least 550 on the equivalency exam. The university also requires a score of 960 or 18 on the SAT or ACT. Undergrads can apply online, pay the $20 application fee and submit their scores and transcripts. MBA students can start the program on a full standing basis or a provisional basis. Full standing students must apply online. They need a bachelor’s degree and a grade point average on the standard 4.0 scale of at least 3.0. Provisional students can have a lower GPA and still begin the program. As long as they maintain high grades and keep a 3.0 or higher GPA, they will become full standing MBA students. KWU allows students to apply while working on an undergraduate business degree but will require that they maintain a 3.0 GPA to receive full standing status later. The university will accept up to six transfer credits. Students need submit transcripts from the colleges where they earned those credits. Students get a full six years to complete their degrees.Tuition and Financial Aid
KWU undergrads must pay a $200 enrollment deposit upon receiving acceptance to the university. It helps students qualify for aid and will apply to their total costs at the beginning of the year. Undergrads pay $28,980 each year for full-time enrollment. They also pay an annual cost of $8,950 for room and board. Part-time undergrads pay $280 per credit hour. Online students pay $300 per credit hour for their classes. The university also charges $495 per credit hour for MBA students and $480 per credit hour for MBA students taking online classes. Financial aid can help students afford KWU, but they only get financial aid when they complete the FAFSA. This helps them qualify for aid from the Kansas state government and from the federal government. These include direct student loans and certain grants. Many students also gain access to the federal work study program when they file this form. Four scholarships are available from KWU too that give students between $2,000 and $9,000 a year. Students can use the university’s website to see which scholarships they qualify for based on their high school grades and their test scores. If students improve their grades by the end of the year, the university can give them better scholarships.
