About Indiana University East
Indiana University is a large public university system with headquarters in Bloomington and regional campuses across the state. One of the top regional campuses in that system is Indiana University East. Located in Richmond, this campus sits close to the Ohio border and enrolls a large number of Ohio students. Earlham College, a private college in Richmond, worked with Indiana University to establish a new extension center in the city. Ball State University and Purdue University later worked with those schools to create an even bigger extension center. During its early years, many students attended the school for two years and then transferred to another college. A large group of local residents came together in the late 1960s and formed an organization that called for the city to label the campus an official university. The state agreed and worked with IU to construct a new campus for Indiana University East. Also called IUE, it now has a campus that sits on more than 220 acres of land. Ivy Tech Community College uses part of the IUE campus for its Richmond college. IUE is one of the smaller campuses in the IU system. It has an enrollment of roughly 3,500 students.Indiana University East Accreditation Details
