About Eastern Oregon University
Eastern Oregon University (EOU) is a public university. It started as the Eastern Oregon Normal School in 1929. It became the Eastern Oregon College of Education just 10 years later. As a college, it began offering full bachelor’s degree programs, though students could still earn teaching certificates. Citing the need for a college for students in the region, the state again changed the school’s name in the 1950s to Eastern Oregon College. This paved the way for it to become Eastern Oregon University. EOU is now one of seven schools with full funding and support from the state. It’s located in La Grande, Oregon. The campus is close to several large cities. This allows students to do practicums and internships with leading employers and organizations. There are several degree programs available in different professional fields and some vocational programs, too. Budget cuts led to the university cutting some of its degree programs and bringing in more vocational options to help students get jobs immediately after they graduated. Those new programs helped increased enrollment to more than 3,700 students. EOU has an undergrad acceptance rate of 97%. It accepts a large number of the students applying to its graduate programs also.Eastern Oregon University Accreditation Details
