Cameron University appears in our ranking of the 50 Most Affordable Online Degree Programs For In-State Students. Cameron University offers both bachelor’s and graduate degree programs. It also offers a few associate’s degree programs. In the Associate of Science (AS) in Applied Health Sciences, students learn about the subjects they’ll study in a bachelor’s program in health or nursing. - Oklahoma Central University (OKU). The OKU program also allows students to take classes at CU-Duncan. Each program includes the same degree requirements. It asks students to do clinical fieldwork. They’ll work under the supervision of licensed nurses and gain experience with inpatient care. Students will take all of their general education classes at Cameron University.
About Cameron University
Cameron University offers degree programs for students online and on-campus. It was established in 1908. It was one of the six agricultural schools founded by the state. It received more than 200 acres of land for its campus and briefly discussed working with the Baptist Church. Known as Cameron State Agricultural College from 1927 to 1971, it then became Cameron College. This new name would reflect its growing curriculum and that it offered classes outside of agriculture. Cameron University also uses the nicknames CU and Cameron. In addition to a flagship campus in Lawton, Oklahoma, it also has a second campus in Duncan called CU-Duncan. The university has a large distance education program. It features internet classes. It has programs that feature on-campus weekend and evening classes.Cameron University Accreditation Details
CU is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). This allows students to take their CU credits if they transfer and to bring credits to CU. All of the business programs at Cameron have accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). It’s also accredited by The National Association of Schools of Music (NASM).Cameron University Application Requirements
CU allows undergrads to apply during their junior and senior years. They need a minimum grade point average of 3.0 and a ranking in the top half of their high school classes. Undergrads also need a minimum SAT score of 1020 or 20 on the ACT. Students in a home school program need the same test score and must meet all the requirements of being a junior or senior. Those who already finished high school need a minimum score of 940/20 on the SAT/ACT or a GPA of 2.7 or higher. They must rank in the top 50% of their classes. CU asks that students follow the core curriculum in Oklahoma and submit a transcript that reflects that. Students applying to the associate’s degree programs need to have the same test scores but can submit a high school or GED transcript. The application process for graduate students includes both the university’s application and the $20 application fee. application fee is waived for those in the military. Students also need to submit their official college or university transcripts. The MBA and a few other programs require a GRE or GMAT score from students with a GPA of less than 3.0. CU only accepts official scores that are less than five years old. Students in the military need to provide official copies of their records and orders. The university requires copies for the wives and children of those in the military who want to enroll.Tuition and Financial Aid
Oklahoma undergrads can sign up for classes and pay $215 per credit hour. They can also opt for the guaranteed tuition rate of $238 per credit hour, which allows them to pay the same rate while they’re at CU. Graduate students pay $255 per credit hour if they live in Oklahoma. Students outside Oklahoma pay $529 per credit hour as an undergrad and $628 as a graduate student. Some programs may charge more or less when students take online classes. Auggie Access is an online portal that CU offers. It allows students to set up their email accounts and view their financial aid packages. The Oklahoma Promise program and Oklahoma Tuition Aid Grant are two of the programs offered by the state government for students in need. Through the federal government, students can get loans of $20,500 every year when working on a graduate degree and subsidized loans in their undergrad years. CU has a few scholarships available that include some programs offered by individual departments.
