About Saint Leo University
Saint Leo University is a private, Catholic university that has a long tradition of welcoming students of all faiths. It was established in 1889 by the Order of Saint Benedict of Florida. It’s the oldest Catholic institution of higher learning in the state. Its main campus is located about 30 miles north of Tampa in Central Florida. According to U.S. News & World Report’s “America’s Best Colleges” list, Saint Leo is consistently ranked among the top universities in the South. In addition to the central campus, the university has 35 regional locations across seven states and a robust online presence. Saint Leo University Application Requirements
Undergraduate students applying to the main campus location need only submit either the Common Application or the school-specific application. This can be done online or downloaded and sent, along with transcripts reflecting the student’s most recent academic achievements. For incoming freshmen, these would be high school transcripts. Transfer students or those with some college already completed would provide transcripts showing previous college coursework. Letters of recommendation and standardized test scores for the SAT, ACT or both may also be submitted. However, they are not required. Undergraduate students applying through the online format must fill out the online application and submit it along with a $45 application fee. Academic transcripts for either high school coursework or previous college coursework are also required Also required are any standardized test results that may apply, including SAT and/or ACT, but also including, if applicable:- CLEP scores
- AP scores,
- Regents exams
- letters of recommendation
- documentation of previous work experience in specific fields
- including any internships completed
- prepared statements of professional career goals
Tuition and Financial Aid
Tuition at Saint Leo University is assessed at the undergraduate and graduate levels. On campus, undergraduate tuition is assessed at $11,550 per semester for a course load of 12 to 18 credits. Students taking less than 12 credits per semester are charged at a rate of $600 per credit hour, up to 11 credit hours. Students taking 19 or more credit hours per semester are charged $320 per credit hour. Online coursework for undergraduate studies is assessed at $370 per credit hour. Active duty military members pay only $250 per credit hour. At the graduate level, students are assessed tuition that varies based on the degree program. It ranges from $495 per credit hour for degrees in Education or Theology to $770 per credit hour for a Master’s degree in Cybersecurity. These costs are regardless of whether the courses are taken online or at a campus location. Financial aid is available for students who need help paying for higher education. Options include:- grants
