About the University of Florida
The University of Florida was established in 1853 and is located in Gainesville, Florida. The first incarnation of the university was the East Florida Seminary, which operated until the Civil War. The University of Florida is a public university and charges lower tuition rates for its in-state students than it does for out-of-state students.
