About Florida International University
FIU is the only public research university in Miami. Research forms a majority of the institution’s mission. The college was founded in 1965 when Senator Robert M. Haverfield introduced a bill to develop a state university in Miami. In 1969, the campus was established at the site of an abandoned airfield, a location it inhabits to this day. Florida International University Application Requirements
Prospective undergraduates must complete an online application and pay a $30 non-refundable application fee. Students are required to submit SAT or ACT scores and official high school transcripts as well as transcripts from any college-level courses. Residency documentation is mandatory to determine in-state or out-of-state status. Applicants for a graduate program also must submit an online application with the non-refundable fee. Official college transcripts are needed. TOEFL scores are required for students for whom English is not the first language. Also necessary:- proof of a degree or diploma

Tuition and Financial Aid
Undergraduate tuition for Florida residents is $105 per credit hour. Out-of-state students will pay about $393 per credit hour. At the graduate level, in-state students will pay approximately $379 per credit hour. Non-resident students will pay about $520. Many forms of financial aid are available at FIU. Students may take out loans from private or government sources. These funds must be paid back after graduation. Filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid is the initial step toward receiving a loan. FIU students also may want to seek paid internships that allow them to gain real-world experience. A variety of scholarships is available to FIU students as well.
