Getting into Stony Brook University is deemed “very difficult” on Peterson’s from a competitive Fall 2016 admission rate of 42 percent. First-year students need a high school diploma or equivalent. A 22-unit, college-prep curriculum with five Regents exams is preferred. Successful freshmen have:

Transfers need 24+ non-remedial college credits with 3.0 GPAs or better. Two restricted majors in Nursing and Social Work mandate 57 credits before entry. Joining Stony Brook’s 8,440 post-grads requires finishing a four-year bachelor’s with a minimum 3.0 GPA and meeting other degree-specific qualifications. For example, the M.S. in Electrical Engineering requests a GRE verbal score of 150 and quantitative score of 159. The M.S. in Nurse-Midwifery needs RN licensure and one year of clinical experience. The MAT in Teaching Spanish requires 36+ bachelor’s credits in this foreign language. Stony Brook University offers undergrad admission on a space-available basis with priority deadlines of:
